DIDI HELP
Your DiDi Driver Is Calling, but You Don’t Speak Chinese—What Now?
If your DiDi driver is calling or messaging in Chinese, use these copy-and-send replies, check your pickup point, and learn when to get local help.
QUICK ANSWER
Open the DiDi chat and tell the driver you cannot answer in Chinese. Send your exact gate, zone, floor, pillar, or nearby landmark in writing. Then check the plate and car details shown in the app.
A DiDi call usually means the driver needs a more precise pickup detail. At an airport, railway station, mall, or attraction, your map pin may not show the gate, floor, road side, or numbered pickup zone.
Move the conversation into the in-app chat, keep each message short, and compare the license plate and vehicle details before getting in.
Is this happening right now?
Send China Trip Care the DiDi screenshot, your location, and the driver’s message on WhatsApp. During an active Trip Care plan, we can check the pickup point and help with the necessary Chinese communication.
Send this message first
A short message is easier to translate and act on than a long machine-translated paragraph. Start by asking the driver to use text.
您好,我不会说中文,请不要打电话。请在滴滴里发文字消息,谢谢。
Hello, I don’t speak Chinese. Please don’t call. Please send a text message in DiDi. Thank you.
我已经到上车点了。请问您在哪里?
I am already at the pickup point. Where are you?
请稍等,我正在找上车点。
Please wait. I am looking for the pickup point.
Why the driver may be calling
- The pickup pin is on the wrong side of the road.
- The building has several entrances, gates, or floors.
- The driver cannot legally or safely stop where you are standing.
- An airport or station uses a numbered ride-hailing zone.
- Your GPS position is slightly inaccurate.
- The driver has arrived but cannot identify you in a crowd.
A call does not automatically mean something is wrong. It usually means the written pickup information is incomplete.
Check these five things in DiDi
- Read the named pickup point, not only the blue GPS dot.
- Look around for a gate, zone, floor, bay, or pillar number.
- Compare the license plate, car color, and model in the app.
- Use short in-app text messages so both sides can translate them.
- Confirm which side of the road the driver is waiting on before moving.
我在___号门 / ___区 / ___号柱旁边。
I am at Gate ___ / Zone ___ / next to Pillar ___.
您是在马路哪一边?请发一下定位。
Which side of the road are you on? Please send your location.
Airports and railway stations need extra detail
Follow signs for ride-hailing or online-car pickup rather than waiting at the first exit. Send the driver the terminal or station exit, floor or parking level, pickup zone, and gate or pillar number.
Do not reuse a sample address without checking it. Large transport hubs change pickup arrangements, and different terminals can use completely different zones.
If the driver cancels
Check the cancellation reason and whether the app shows a fee. Keep screenshots of the booking, pickup point, chat, and cancellation screen. Use the support route attached to that trip if you believe the charge is incorrect.
Do not agree to send money outside the platform simply because someone asks. Driver availability, cancellation decisions, and refunds remain controlled by DiDi.

Do DiDi drivers in China speak English?
Some do, but travelers should not assume the driver will speak English. Save the destination in Chinese and use short in-app text messages when communication is needed.
Why is my DiDi driver calling me?
The driver may need your gate, pickup zone, road side, or another detail that the map pin does not show clearly.
Can I ask a DiDi driver not to call?
Yes. Politely say you do not speak Chinese and ask the driver to use in-app text, then provide a precise pickup landmark.
What should I send if I cannot find my driver?
Send your gate, zone, floor, pillar, or nearby landmark and ask the driver to share their location. Compare the plate and vehicle details before approaching the car.
Check current official information
App behavior, entry processes, prices, booking windows, and local arrangements can change. Confirm the final details with the relevant official provider before acting.
