Yangshuo Travel Guide: Karst Scenery, Transport and Itinerary
阳朔
Plan Yangshuo with Guilin transport, Yulong River, Xingping, West Street, countryside cycling, hotel areas and a realistic two-day route.
- Allow
- 2–4 days
- Ticket
- Town access is free
- Access
- Yangshuo rail, bus or Li River cruise
- Bring
- Chinese hotel address
Yangshuo is both a town and a wide rural destination of karst peaks, rivers, villages and separate transport hubs south of Guilin.
For foreign visitors, the useful plan is not only what to see but which entrance, identity document, transport connection and exit make the visit work. Save “阳朔” in Chinese before leaving your hotel.
Quick answer
Stay at least two nights, choose one countryside area per day and do not confuse Yangshuo railway station near Xingping with central Yangshuo town.

Tickets, reservations and passport checks for Yangshuo
There is no general Yangshuo ticket. Reserve individual rafting, performances, caves, viewpoints and transport separately.
Check the official channel for your exact date and choose passport as the identity type when real-name booking is required. Keep the confirmation, admission window and entrance instructions available offline.
Yangshuo railway station is not in central Yangshuo. Allow a substantial road transfer after arriving by train.
A practical route through Yangshuo
- Choose a base in central Yangshuo or the Yulong River countryside.
- Use one day for Yulong River cycling or rafting.
- Use another day for Xingping and Xianggong Mountain or a cave.
- Keep West Street for evening rather than the center of every day.
- Save exact village and hotel pins for DiDi or drivers.
How to fit Yangshuo into a Guilin itinerary
Combine Yangshuo with the Li River cruise from Guilin and stay overnight rather than rushing back after dark.
Spring and autumn suit outdoor days; summer heat and holiday traffic require earlier starts and shorter midday activity.
Keep a workable backup
- Use caves or cafés during heavy rain.
- Switch from rafting to cycling if river operations change.
- Stay within one countryside zone when roads are congested.
- Use a licensed driver for sunrise when ride-hailing supply is uncertain.

Plan My Guilin TripFrequently asked questions
How many days should I stay in Yangshuo?
Two full days is a useful minimum; three or four supports Xingping, Yulong River and a slower countryside pace.
Can foreign visitors enter Yangshuo with a passport?
Major Guilin attractions generally support valid foreign passports, but the sales channel and gate workflow vary. Bring the original passport used for any real-name booking.
How much time should I allow for Yangshuo?
Plan about 2–4 days, plus transport, security and queues. Mountain, river and outlying attractions need extra buffer for weather and internal transfers.
