Reed Flute Cave is Guilin’s best-known show cave, with large chambers, dense formations and a managed illuminated route northwest of downtown.

For foreign visitors, the useful plan is not only what to see but which entrance, identity document, transport connection and exit make the visit work. Save “芦笛岩” in Chinese before leaving your hotel.

Quick answer

Arrive with enough time for the controlled cave route, expect colored illumination rather than natural darkness and combine the visit with a central Guilin attraction.

  • Move to Two Rivers and Four Lakes when capacity is full.
  • Skip unofficial add-ons at the entrance.
  • Allow surfaces to dry before rushing on steps.

Major Guilin attractions generally support valid foreign passports, but the sales channel and gate workflow vary. Bring the original passport used for any real-name booking.

How much time should I allow for Reed Flute Cave?
